그림으로 음악을 표현했던 추상화가 바실리 칸딘스키의 어린 시절부터 청년기까지의 이야기. 
어릴 적부터 반듯하고 예의 바른 소년이었던 바샤 칸딘스키는 수학과 역사를 공부하고 피아노를 연습하며, 미술 수업에서도 예쁜 집과 꽃을 그려야 했습니다. 어느 날 물감통을 열고 색을 섞기 시작하자 오케스트라가 조율하듯 웅장한 소리가 들리는 ‘공감각(Synesthesia)’적인 경험을 하였고, 그는 자신의 이러한 감각과 경험을 살려 색깔이 노래하고 소리가 춤추는 것을 보고 듣는 추상화 작품을 처음으로 하게 됩니다. 정형화된 그림의 틀에서 벗어나 자유로운 추상화를 시도한 칸딘스키의 용기 있는 여정에서, 예술이란 눈에 보이는 것을 똑같이 그리는 것뿐만 아니라, 자신만의 감각과 상상력을 자유롭게 표현하는 것이기도 하다는 것을 일깨워 주는 작품입니다.
